The grass field and the flight path for the air show provided excellent viewing and photographic opportunities in general if one got to the show early.
The 2010 Geneseo "Greatest Show on Turf" once again lived up to it's nickname. Flying displays from WW I, WW II and the USAF F-16 Viper West Demo Team made for a nonstop crowd pleasing air show.
The charm of Geneseo is of course, the grass turf, out in the country, and with no buildings in the background. Under certain conditions with the right aircraft it could be almost like a time-travel, going back to the WWI era, when the replica WWI warbirds take into the air. There were several food vendors, with the best Hamburgers from the 1941 HAG stand. The sanitation facilities were adequate.
A special guest was Lt.Col. Leo Gray a pilot from the Tuskegee Airmen. He shared his good and not so good memories of the war and posed alongside a P-51C restored and painted for his group by the Commemorative Air Force. Also flying at the show were the NYANG and their L-130, Kevin Russo, Manfred Radius, Rob Holland, the Canadian Harvards, four P-51's, two B-25's, the B-17 Memphis Belle. Mny other planes from that time period, also filled the sky.
A welcome change from previous years was the SUNNY weather! You always feel close to action when attending an air show at Geneseo.
Over all, the Geneseo Air Show show provides excellent entertainment for the dollar. Being a unique (grass landing field) makes this air show charming and worth attending. Keep up the good work folks!
